What to Wear on Camera
Follow these guidelines to avoid the most common mistakes and look your best.
What you wear during your presentation dictates what kind of first impression you make and should be considered carefully. ADP recommends that you follow the same dress code that you would for an actual job interview. A professional appearance on camera will tell your audience that you are serious about the message you are delivering, and in turn they will pay closer attention.

From a technical point of view, you should avoid wearing fabrics with small patterns, like herringbone tweeds, hounds tooth, and small checkered patterns. These tend to drive most video cameras a little crazy and often cause weird dancing patterns to appear. In general it's a good idea to wear light or neutral colors, but not pure white. Other problem colors are red, which tends to bleed or haze around the edges, and some greens, which can seem to disappear if it matches the green screen behind you too closely. If green is your color, we can also key off of a blue background if that is more convenient. Makeup, hair, and fashion accessories need to be considered and either brought with you or applied ahead of time when preparing to record your Video Resume. It's also a good idea to bring some touch-up and a comb. For more information about any of these topics, please contact us.
Video cameras can have trouble with clothes that have small patterns or stripes, as well as the colors red, bright green, or white.
